tapirus oppositum

acrylic, pen & pencil on canvas

The tapir is such an odd and innocuous creature that it deserves more promotion than its ungainly proportions usually accord it.

I created this tapir in negative - oppositum, white were black should be and vice versa. Searching for a background theme I stumbled across Keith Haring - again - and realised he had spent a lot of his life in “oppositum”, so it seemed very fitting for this critter.

Those re copies of Keith’s drawing on the tapir body, and my interpretation of Keith’s way to draw tapirs that surround it.
