Pigs Ear

Of course one can make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear. The leaves of this plant are soft and silky, and glisten in the light.

And a lot nicer than calling it Round-leafed Navel-Wort.

It has gray-green leaves which naturally develop a white, powdery substance (farina) on their surfaces; this farina helps reflect sunlight and conserve water. If a specific leaf area is even gently disturbed, the farina will become smudged. While this powder does not regenerate when disturbed or wiped off, this is normally not detrimental and very rarely unsightly. The shape of the leaves was thought to have a resemblance to a pig's ear.
