Cabbage Palm

Dramatic leaves create exciting shapes.

The flowers depicted are wilting Amaryllis.

The cabbage tree is a habitat for tree frogs and bats, which control mosquitoes naturally. During their bloom, pollinating beetles and honeybees collect nectar and pollen from the flowers. While their characteristic odor can turn people away, bees, butterflies, and many other valuable creatures find that smell to be perfume.
