A little like the Elephant’s Graveyard, the Elephant’s Maternity Ward is a long-sought mystery location. We can now reveal that it all began with the Baobab tree (adansonia digitata), originating in Madagascar, but now having spread across most of sub-Saharan mainland Africa.
