acrylic, timber & objects on canvas

There are 3 pieces here, that are usually hung as one. Each time they have been hung, they have been overlapped in a different arrangement.

In this instance I was really interested in breaking the rectangular nature of canvases and exploring beyond the edges of the frame. I searched for suitable timber to extend the frames - some is eucalypt, some is grapevine.

The original stretched canvas has been cut and refitted to the new requirements.

The pieces are liberally sprinkled with toy frogs, dragonflies, snakes, cicadas and a whole variety of beetles and lizards. Each creature is individually painted with a pattern sourced from Australian flowers.
